About & questions, answered

One maker. One bench. No two the same.

Everything you might want to know about how Persa London is made, what it is made from, and how ordering works.

About Persa London

Persa London is a hand-painted leather studio in London N1. Every piece in the collection is made by one pair of hands at the same bench where the brand started. There is no factory behind it and no production line. There is one maker and there is the work.

Every signature bag is painted to order. The work asks what it asks: a pencil trace, two coats of ground pigment, two coats of figure, a slow seal, and the patience to let each layer cure before the next begins.

The studio takes its name from the Simurgh, the mythical bird of Persian literature. In Attar's twelfth-century poem The Conference of the Birds, thirty birds journey through seven valleys to find the Simurgh, only to discover they are the creature themselves. The Persian word si-murgh means thirty birds. Every signature piece carries that journey in its layers.

The bracelets, keyrings and bag charms are genuine leather. The bags begin with small independent bag makers in Iran, chosen piece by piece rather than from a factory line, and every one is hand-painted in the studio. The make-up bags are cotton velvet, the engagement box is velvet, and the kids' drawstring bags are printed cotton, each personalised with a name. Every piece is made to order. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting to be sold, and every order ships with a care card.

Questions, answered

How long does a Persa London bag take to make?

Every signature bag is painted to order at the bench: a pencil trace, two ground coats, two figure coats, and a slow sealant cure. No two are ever the same. Smaller pieces such as bracelets and keychains are painted to order in three to five working days.

Where is Persa London made?

Every piece is made in London N1, United Kingdom. The studio is one bench, one maker, one set of brushes. There is no offshore manufacturing and no batch production.

Is each piece unique?

Yes. Every hand-painted piece has its own brushwork. The motif family is consistent, so a Persian floral may appear on more than one bag, but the individual strokes are not repeated. Brush speed, pigment load and drying conditions all vary between pieces. No two leave the bench identical.

What is the story behind the name Persa London?

Persa London takes its name from the Simurgh, the mythical bird of Persian literature. In The Conference of the Birds, written by the Persian poet Attar around 1177, thirty birds travel through seven valleys to find their king and discover they are the creature themselves. The Persian word si-murgh means thirty birds. It is the story behind the name, and the reason no two pieces are ever the same.

What materials does Persa London use?

The bracelets, keyrings and bag charms are genuine leather. The bags come from small independent bag makers in Iran, chosen for the way each surface takes and holds paint, and are hand-finished in the London studio. The make-up bags are cotton velvet, the engagement box is velvet, and the kids' drawstring bags are printed cotton. Every piece is finished by hand before it leaves the bench.

Can I order a bespoke piece?

Yes. The bespoke configurator walks through colour, motif and finish choices. Bespoke pieces take the same care as the signature range. There is no minimum order and no extra charge for the configuration.

Do you ship outside the UK?

At the moment, Persa London ships within the UK only, by Royal Mail Tracked 48 or Special Delivery. International shipping is not available at this stage.

How do I know a Persa London piece is genuine?

Every piece is made to order and finished by hand in the London studio, which keeps a record of each piece made. If you ever have a question about a piece, contact the studio directly and it can be checked against that record.

What is your returns policy?

Persa London accepts returns within fourteen days of delivery on unworn pieces in their original condition. Once the piece is received and inspected, the purchase price is refunded within five working days. Original postage is refunded only if the item was faulty or not as described. Please contact the studio before returning to confirm the process.

Are there pieces under £25?

Yes. The leather bracelets start at £18, keychains and bag charms from £15, and the canvas tote is £22. The full range runs from £15 to £65.
